..is a terrible thing to waste"

October, 1995 Newsletter

THE NEXT E.A.R.S. "EATING MEETING" will be at Old Country Buffet at Morgan and Green River in Evansville on Friday, October 13, 1995 at 6:30 p.m. Come and help us plan the hamfest and meet all your ham friends!

THANKS SO MUCH to those who helped address the 3,000 hamfest flyers for the Evansville hamfest. Those gracious volunteers included: Lisa KA9VLV, Dean KF9DL, Dan KB9KCF and Debbie, and Barry KE4OXZ.

REPEATER SYSTEM UPDATE:

145.110 - A new Kenwood repeater is being ordered to replace the damaged system.

145.150 - The output power is still at 2 watts. We are still hoping to get the amplifier back up and running.

146.925 -We need to get a tower climber ready to raise the new transmit antenna at Paxton. We have all the needed materials and need to get this done. Eric is looking for a climber. If you know of one at a resonable cost, contact Eric or Neil ASAP.

443.925 - Some transmitter adjustments have been made recently. We are still looking into an adjacent frequency problem with the output. Intermod from a paging transmitter has been keying up the repeater from time to time. This same intermod is affecting other repeaters in the general area. We hope to find the source soon.

E.A.R.S. WIDE AREA NET AND NEWSLINE....Every Monday at 8:30 Central on

the EARS Repeater Network!

This month there are two inserts to the newsletter. The first is a copy of the repeater network map, in case you missed them at the hamfests and/or eating meetings. Some of the receive sites are still inactive, we will announce in the newsletter as these come back online. There has been some confusion about all the links and receivers, so since we have some room this month I thought I would outline the EARS Network frequencies briefly. Second, there is an Evansville Hamfest flyer. Please help us promote this event coming up in November.

Frequencies that you can LISTEN to the EARS Network, at present: 145.150 Evansville

145.250 Indianapolis 146.925 Paxton (just north of 147.430 Seymour Vincennes)

442.750 Petersburg 443.925 Vincennes

Frequencies on which you can TRANSMIT into the EARS Network, at present: 144.550 Evansville

146.325 Vincennes, Farmersburg (Terre Haute)

144.650 Indianapolis, Greensburg, Seymour, and

Muncie

448.925 Vincennes

Keep in mind that some areas may work better with odd splits. For example, on I-65 from Columbus south you should listen on 147.43 and transmit on

144.65, the normal input of the 145.25. In the Evansville area, use 145.150-. In the Vincennes area, use 146.925- or 443.925+. In the Terre Haute area use 146.925-. East of T.H. on I-70 to Cloverdale, use an odd split 145.25 recieve and

146.325 transmit. In the Indianapolis area and north or east of Indianapolis use 145.25-. The 147.135+ repeater near Louisville will be back on shortly, stay tuned to the newsletter. The Evansville & Vincennes repeaters are on a timer, linked from 6 pm - 6 am CT Mon-Fri, and all day Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays. The link can be activated at other times when desired, however.
